YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO ADOPT ABOUT ME: March 2012 Update: Sophie is still hanging out with her foster folks looking for that forever home. She is gentle, affectionate, and sweet. She has been making lots of new friends, and is getting over some of her anxiety and shyness. She has been going to the park and enjoys being petted. She is so beautiful and has such a nice smile that everyone loves to come up to her to say 'hello'. She is really special and deserves and home of her own. ________________________________________ ANOTHER PREVIOUS UPDATE FROM FOSTER DADDY: Sophie is a big girl with a big heart. She is somewhat timid and shy, especially when she first gets to know you, but when she warms up can also be playful at times. She is affectionate, sweet, and smart. While living in temporary foster care she has learned not to get on the couch or bed unless invited. She is completely house trained and knows a few basic commands, and would eagerly learn more if someone would teach her. She tolerates cats but she should not be unsupervised around them. She has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, but that doesn't slow her down at all; she walks a mile every day with her friends. She is a very special dog that deserves a great life. Not only does Sophie desperately need a home, but adopting her would free up space to allow another homeless and neglected animal to get the same excellent (exemplary) care that is provided to each and every animal from the Mobile SPCA. My name is Sophie and I was transferred from the city shelter as part of the Maddie's Pet Rescue Project. When my owner lost her job, she moved from Montgomery to Mobile and into an apartment. Needless to say, there was not enough room for me. I am sweet but timid and nervous around new surroundings. I do ok with other big dogs and like to go for walks and rides. I am in need of someone to wipe my slobber and eye boogers regularly if you know what I mean. LOL :):):) I do have some hip dysplasia in one of my hips. I am on fish oil capsules and joint supplements. I must be on these medications for the rest of my life in order to live comfortably. 5 years old/heartworm neg./#140 ADOPTION FEE: 150 ABOUT OUR PETS: All of our pets available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, tested for heartworms, given age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and are on flea & heartworm preventative medication. ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: To give each dog the best possible home we require a completed Adoption Application. Screening and approval by our Adoption Coordinators and a home visit may be required to make sure this pet fits into your home and the home fits our pet.
